Brent Moberg is in his 11th year as a member of the CarrSports management consulting team, with primary focus on NCAA legislation, membership requirements, and rules compliance for intercollegiate athletics. He has skillfully guided numerous Division I and Division II institutions through the complexities of NCAA membership reclassification. Brent is highly respected by his peers and leaders in intercollegiate athletics for his collaborative style and deliberate approach to maintaining rules compliance and institutional control.
Brent has served as the Director of Compliance for the Notre Dame Athletics Department since 2009. Prior to joining the University of Notre Dame, he served as Director of Compliance and Adjunct Professor of Sport Management at Northern Illinois University. Preceding his tenure at NIU, he worked in the Athletic Departments at Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, and in the Law Office of Mario J. Tarara, P.C. in Rockford, Illinois.
Moberg earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Preprofessional Studies, Anthropology, and Theology from the University of Notre Dame in 2000. He earned his Juris Doctorate and Master of Business Administration in Sports Business at Marquette University, along with a Certificate in Sports Law from the National Sports Law Institute, each in 2004. He is a member of the bar in the state of Wisconsin. He also currently serves as a member of the NCAA’s Division I Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee.

Professional Profile
Richard Giannini, a veteran of five decades of athletic administration, is the Executive Director of the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl. Giannini oversees the bowl’s operations and staff, is the bowl’s liaison with ESPN Events and serves in a key role with the bowl’s governmental relations with the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. As principal of Giannini Sports Consultants, LLC, he advises Conference USA, ESPN and the Boca Raton Bowl in addition to his work with the Makers Wanted Bahamas Bowl. Giannini has played an integral role in the start-up of three current bowl games.
Giannini served as athletic director at Southern Miss from 1999-2012, after working as the athletics director at Louisiana-Monroe for five years. During his USM tenure, the school captured 13 Conference USA championships, including three football titles, two regular season and two tournament crowns in both baseball and softball and one in volleyball and men’s basketball. Concurrently, Giannini spearheaded a total makeover of the school’s athletic facilities.
While working for the NCAA in the mid-1970s, Giannini’s responsibilities included serving as executive producer of the Sunday ABC College Football highlight shows, as well as NCAA Tournament basketball games not aired by NBC. He also served as director of licensing for the NCAA.
He served as assistant sports information director at Florida (his alma mater) from 1966-70, was sports information director at Duke from 1970-73, before becoming assistant athletics director at Duke in 1974. After working for the NCAA from 1976-77, Giannini returned to Florida as senior associate athletics director to oversee external affairs. He left Florida in 1986 to enter the private sector, taking over as CEO and co-owner of Raycom Management Group in Charlotte, N.C., a subsidiary of Raycom Sports.
Giannini and his wife, Gayle, are parents of four daughters – Ansley Stone, Brittney Borbash, Carlyn Linker and DeLancey – and they are grandparents of nine.

Professional Profile
Dan Beebe has worked in intercollegiate athletics for over 35 years, during which time he was involved in some of college sports most interesting aspects—including conducting investigations of prominent NCAA infractions cases, working in the playoff and bowl post-season football formats, serving on important NCAA committees, and negotiating major television and bowl game deals. As commissioner of two Division I conferences, Dan oversaw all aspects of conference governance and operations including legal affairs, marketing, championships, television, media relations and all officiating programs.
Having worked with complex organizations and being involved in many cases of misconduct, Dan formed the Dan Beebe Group to assist institutions identify, prevent and respond to human relations risks. Such risks may include misconduct such as harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, sexual abuse, bullying, hazing, physical or emotional abuse, academic fraud and violations of state, association and institutional rules. Dan’s experience as the CEO of highly visible public entities enables him to understand the role of chief executives and to help them establish an effective cultural and structural environment that will provide for a safe and productive workplace and educational organization built on transparency and trust.
For preventative risk management work, Dan often teams with other experts to assist progressive leaders protect their organizations by having independent verification and enhancement of the policies, procedures and practices. Dan also has been engaged to help respond to allegations of misconduct by investigating both the alleged behavior itself and/or by consulting on the manner by which the organization responded to allegations.
Beebe received his bachelor’s degree from California State Polytechnic University, where he was a captain of the football team, and his law degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law.

With over 40 years experience as director of athletics, Judy is a proven pioneer in intercollegiate athletics.
During her tenure with the Charlotte 49ers, Director of Athletics Judy Rose was one of the most successful and well-respected Athletic Directors in the nation. She served as 49ers Director of Athletics for 28 years and was a member of the athletic department for 43 years. At the time of her appointment in 1990, she was just the third female to be put in charge of a Division I program.
Chief among Rose’s accomplishments with the university is the systematic growth of the 49ers program. That growth culminated with the unveiling of the Charlotte 49ers football program in 2013 – a start-up program that participated as an FCS independent for two years before moving to the FBS Conference USA in 2015. She oversaw the 49ers moves from the Sun Belt Conference to the Metro Conference to Conference USA to the Atlantic 10 and back to FBS C-USA in 2015.
Rose led the 49ers growth into a program that added seven sports during her tenure and is fully-funded at the NCAA level for athletic scholarships. In addition, she helped develop over $100 million worth of athletic facilities which covered all areas of the overall student-athlete development and fan experience. In 2012, the football fieldhouse was named in her honor: Judy W. Rose Football Center.
Rose served on several national committees over the years, most notably the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Committee (first woman ever named to this prestigious committee), NCAA Division I Council, NCAA Walter Byers Post Graduate Scholarship Committee (Chair), NCAA Sport and Championship Cabinet (Chair), NCAA Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee, and the NCAA College Basketball Partnership Committee. She served as President of the National Association of Collegiate Director of Athletics (2003-04) and was a 2019 inductee to the NACDA Hall of Fame.
Rose lettered in basketball at Winthrop University and did her graduate work at the University of Tennessee while serving as an assistant coach to the legendary Pat Summitt. Judy and her husband Ken reside in Denver, North Carolina, where she continues to be very active and recognized for her service to the Charlotte community.

Morgan Burke is a proven business executive and collegiate athletics’ professional with an extensive track record of delivering results in both the private and public sectors.
Morgan retired as Vice President and Director of Athletics on June 30, 2017 after completing 25 years in this role at his alma mater, Purdue University. Prior to Purdue, Burke’s distinguished career began in the business world in 1975, culminating as Vice President of a Fortune 500 company – Inland Steel Company.
Leveraging his diverse strategic management expertise, he achieved significant milestones for the university’s athletics’ program improving conference/national ranking and academic performance. Boilermaker programs, including football and men’s basketball, achieved a high level of competitive success nationally and in the Big Ten Conference. Similar excellence was experienced in the classroom as the Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and grade point average (GPA) reached record levels.
During his Purdue tenure, Burke identified and addressed multiple athletics construction and renovation projects – totaling over $350M. Impressively, Burke’s athletic department ran in the black throughout his tenure and consistently one of a handful of Division I programs (out of 351) that had done so on an annual basis.
Burke has served on several Big Ten boards – Executive, Program/Budget and Compliance – and a number of NCAA committees: Leadership Council, Championships and Competition, and Postseason Football. He was honored in 2010 as the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) Central Region Under Armour AD of the Year by the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA).
In 1980, Burke earned a law degree with distinction from John Marshall Law School in Chicago. He received his Masters in Industrial Relations degree with honors from Purdue University’s Krannert Business School while serving as an assistant varsity swim coach. During his undergraduate studies at Purdue, Burke served as captain of the swim team his senior year.
Burke’s wife, Kate, is a Purdue alumna and pharmacist. They have three children – Joyce, Morgan Jr., and Patrick, who are also Purdue graduates.

Jack brings 40 years of experience as a highly successful Director of Athletics with prestigious recognition within intercollegiate athletics.
On September 1, 2017, after forty years in intercollegiate athletics, Jack McDonald retired from the University of New England as the Vice President of Student Engagement and Director of Athletics. Prior to UNE, McDonald served as the Director of Athletics at Quinnipiac University for twenty years (1995-2015).
While at Quinnipiac, McDonald was instrumental in transitioning the institution from its NCAA Division II membership into Division I. He played an integral role in all phases of building the TD Bank Sports Center; brokered television, radio and internet packages for the Bobcats; hired head coaches who led programs to national and conference prominence; and, achieved record marks for student-athlete achievement in the classroom. McDonald was named the NACDA Under Armour Division IAAA Athletic Director of the Year in 2013-2014.
Prior to Quinnipiac, McDonald had a successful five-year stint as the Director of Athletics at the University of Denver after serving as an athletic administrator at his alma mater, Boston College. McDonald started his intercollegiate athletics’ career as the Head Coach for Men’s and Women’s Track and Cross Country at BC earning several team and individual accomplishments during this time period. He also was a standout track and field student-athlete for Boston College and was inducted into the BC Hall of Fame in 1982.
McDonald served on several national committees over the years, most notably the – NCAA Women’s Ice Hockey Committee, NCAA Committee on Women’s Athletics, NCAA Certification Steering Committee, NCAA Championship and Competition Cabinet, and the NCAA Division I Men’s Ice Hockey Committee (Chair). He also participated on the National Association of Collegiate Director of Athletics (NACDA) Executive Committee and served as both the President and Vice President of the NACDA IAAA Athletic Director’s Association. In 2015, McDonald received NACDA’s Lifetime Achievement Award and was a 2019 inductee to the NACDA Hall of Fame.
McDonald, a native of Braintree, Massachusetts, lives in Marshfield with his wife, Linda. They have four grown sons – Brian, Jim, Jack and David.

With two decades experience as director of athletics, Doug is universally recognized for his work related to national issues and conference realignment.
In 2014, Doug Woolard retired as the Director of Athletics at the University of South Florida after a highly productive 10-year tenure and concluding an impressive 26-year career in intercollegiate athletics, including 20 years as a Division I athletic director.
Woolard transitioned the University of South Florida into the Big East Conference and led several initiatives, including raising significant funds through several multi-million dollar lead gifts to support the development of an “Athletics District” on campus. In addition, Woolard hired several successful head coaches who led their respective programs to conference and national prominence both on and off the field of competition.
Prior to his tenure at University of South Florida, Woolard was the athletic director at Saint Louis University for ten years. He guided the program through a historic period that included the school’s inclusion as a founding member of Conference USA, and helped lay the foundation for Saint Louis University membership in the Atlantic 10. While at Saint Louis University, Woolard served as chair of the Conference USA Director of Athletics Committee and was a prominent figure on several national committees: NCAA Sports Wagering Task Force, NCAA Academic/Eligibility/Compliance (AEC) Cabinet (where he chaired the Amateurism and Agents Subcommittee) and as an alternate to the NCAA Management Council.
Prior to joining St. Louis, Woolard started at Washington State University as an assistant athletic director (1988-89) before serving as an associate director of external operations (1989-94).
Woolard and his wife, Cherrie, have two children, Chris and Amy, son-in-law Joe and two grandchildren, Gabriella and Bryce.

Gerald K. O’Dell is in his 21st year as a management consultant for intercollegiate athletics, with primary focus on feasibility studies, strategic and business planning, along with athletics program reviews for institutions. O’Dell serves as the primary Project Coordinator for CarrSports’ Management Consulting services. His passionate, collaborative, and solutions-driven approach has benefited the leadership of over 60 NCAA and NAIA institutions.
As the Athletic Director at Northern Illinois University, he and his administrative team, in conjunction with the sport coaches and University leadership, designed and implemented an Athletics strategic plan resulting in a legacy of success for NIU Athletics. Gerald’s tenure as the University of Cincinnati Athletic Director was marked by an earnest commitment to the success of all Bearcats sports, student-athlete academic achievement, and Title IX compliance. While at the Cincinnati, he also played a leading role in the organization of Conference USA, guiding the drafting of C-USA’s first strategic plan and chairing several C-USA standing committees. Additionally, O’Dell participated on NCAA certification peer review teams, as well as the NCAA Division I Strategic Planning Cabinet. Eight of Gerald’s former staff members became athletic directors at NCAA institutions.
O’Dell began his athletics administrative career as the Marketing Director at the University of Minnesota. Prior to his administrative duties, he was an assistant football coach at the University of Minnesota, Iowa State University, University of Oklahoma, and Broken Arrow High School (Broken Arrow, Oklahoma). Gerald, a native of Wichita Falls, Texas, is a graduate of Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he was a two-year captain of the football team. He holds a Master of Education from the University of Oklahoma.

Mike Thomas has nearly 40 years experience in major university athletic department direction, during which time he hired coaches who have led teams to conference championships and national prominence, achieved historic levels of fundraising, managed capital projects totaling over $400 million, raised student-athlete academic achievements to conference-leading levels, instituted cultures of strict NCAA compliance, negotiated multi-million dollar media, sponsorship and marketing contracts, and revamped staffing and financial systems.
His roles included director of athletics at the University of Illinois, the University of Cincinnati, the University of Akron, and Cleveland State University, as well as serving on executive staff at the University of Virginia and the University of Denver. Over the course of Thomas’ career, he has worked in the Big Ten Conference, the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Big East, the Mid-American Conference and the Horizon League.
Recognized for his administrative acumen by his peers, Thomas has served on the following NCAA committees: Division I Council, Men’s Basketball Oversight Committee, Division I Ethics Coalition, Division I Championship/Sport Management Cabinet, Men’s Basketball Issues Committee, Division I Championships/Competition Cabinet, Division I Academics/Eligibility/Compliance Cabinet, Postseason Football Bowl Licensing Subcommittee, Women’s Basketball Issues Committee and the Women’s Rowing Committee.
Thomas also served on several conference committees, most notably as Chair of both the Horizon League Council and the Basketball Issues Committee; Chair of the Big East Championship and Competition Committee; and, the Big Ten Legislative Review Committee.
Twice during his career, Thomas received the General Robert R. Neyland Outstanding Director of Athletics Award in 2005 (Akron) and 2009 (Cincinnati). He also received the Cincinnati Sports Executive of the Year (2009), the Big East Distinguished Service Award (2011) and the Western Illinois University Alumni Achievement Award (2015).
Thomas, a Colorado native, received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Colorado State University (1983), and his master’s degree in athletic administration from Western Illinois University (1986). He and his wife Jeni have four adult children: Vince, daughter-in-law Emily, and grandson Arthur; Joey, daughter-in-law Regan, and granddaughter Arden; Mick, and Meredith.
