Kevin Anderson

Kevin Anderson

Vice President

Kevin is a transformational leader with proven success in academic, athletic and fiscal endeavors within intercollegiate athletics.

Demonstrating an unwavering commitment to educate, develop and serve student-athletes through a culture of academic athletic excellence has been at the core of Anderson’s 35-year career in college athletics, most recently as the Director of Athletics at the University of Maryland (College Park). As stated by Tom McMillen, President and CEO of LEAD1 – “Kevin Anderson is one of the most student-athlete centric ADs in the country. He is not someone who is a boardroom AD. That’s really his passion. That’s one of his distinguishing features.

During nearly eight years at Maryland, Anderson’s vision, external revenue successes, and business acumen elevated Terrapin Athletics to previously unseen heights across a variety of platforms. He was a transformational leader achieving unprecedented academic, athletic and fiscal success. Anderson laid the foundation for Maryland’s future by deftly directing the athletic department strategic plan – The Maryland Way (2012-2017).

In addition to the Terrapins’ athletic success in winning several national and conference championships, and a significant improvement in the classroom, Anderson initiated a $200 Million campaign to construct the Athletic High Performance Center.

Prior to Maryland, Anderson served as the Director of Athletics at the United States Military Academy where he oversaw 25 sport programs and 900 cadet-athletes. On the field, he led a broad-based resurgence that saw 20 Army teams earn berths in NCAA championships, including programs in 10 different sports. All areas of revenue generation – ticket sales, sponsorships, and fundraising – increased during his time there. Anderson’s previous athletic administrative experience includes various roles at three PAC-12 schools: Stanford, Cal-Berkeley and Oregon State.

Anderson served on several national committees over the years, including the NCAA Committee to Promote Cultural Diversity, NCAA Minority Opportunities Athletic Association, NCAA Women’s Basketball Oversight Committee, NCAA Division I Baseball Committee, NCAA Men’s Basketball Academic Enhancement Group, and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Issues Committee (Chair). He also participated on the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Board of Directors as President, served as Chair of the McLendon Minority Scholarship Steering Committee and was a member of the LEAD1 Executive Committee.

In 2007, Anderson was recognized as the General Robert R. Neyland Outstanding Athletic Director Award. He was inducted into the San Francisco State University Alumni Hall of Fame (2016) and the United Negro College Fund honored him with the Meritorious Service Award. Most recently, Anderson was inducted into the NACDA Hall of Fame Class of 2020. Anderson and his wife, Moira, have four children – daughters, Olivia and Michaela, and sons, Kevin Jr. and Chauncey.
