CarrSports Consulting is assisting North Carolina Central University in the search process for their next Director of Athletics

North Carolina Central University is a top-ranked historically black university and regional university in the south by U.S. News & World Report. The institution was founded in 1910 in Durham, North Carolina, by pharmacist and religious educator Dr. James E. Shepard. The university serves as a hub for intellectual dialogue and discourse and a source of academic distinction and game-changing innovation for North Carolina, the United States and the world. It is the oldest publicly-funded liberal arts college founded for African-Americans in the nation. Located in the state’s Research Triangle, NCCU has an enrollment of 7,953 students (Fall 2021) from continents including North America, South America, and Europe.

North Carolina Central University’s athletics programs have enjoyed regional and national recognition for years. Fifteen men’s and women’s sports teams participate in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) competition at the Division I level (Football Championship Subdivision) as members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
