Operations Review
An Operations Review assists the university in determining the effectiveness of athletics' operations, policies, procedures and application of industry best practices. Each Operations Review is typically tailored to enhance certain components of athletics. CarrSports evaluates and benchmarks each component with market and institutional data while drawing on its experience in intercollegiate athletics to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges. Examples of Operations Review components are listed below.
 

Policy and Governance Issues

Identify institutional, state, federal or membership policy and governance issues pertinent to Athletics’ ability to achieve and sustain competitive success. 



Financial Model

Examine the fiscal stability of athletics to include the adequacy of athletics’ fiscal management   practices, as well as the effectiveness of current and potential external revenue activities. Develop applicable financial pro formas. 



Organizational Structure, Management and Controls

Evaluate athletics’ organizational structure, internal policies and procedures and communications systems.



Academic Success: Retention to Graduation

Study the university and Athletics' capability to successfully retain and graduate student-athletes. Measure university and athletics Academic Services support against industry metrics: Federal Graduation Rate, NCAA Division I Graduation Success Rate (GSR) and the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR).



Benchmarking


Collaborate with the university to identify, collect and analyze the data points most significant to the applicable Operations Review components. Use data to develop strategies for achieving programmatic goals.



Competitive Profile

Develop a profile of Athletics'  sport sponsorship and recent competitive record in conference and post-season. Assess each sports' capacity to achieve its competitive goals.


Human Resources Management

Assess Athletics’ policies and procedures pertaining to human resource management, coaching contracts and staff performance.



External Revenues

Evaluate the methodology and effectiveness of athletics external revenue generating programs and customer service activities.



Title IX, Gender Equity and Diversity

Review Athletics’ gender equity and diversity policies as delineated by any federal, state, university and intercollegiate membership requirements.



Facilities


Determine the capability of current and proposed Athletics'  practice, competition and service facilities to support a competitive and/or championship level athletics department.



University and Athletics Infrastructure


Evaluate the adequacy of each university and Athletics support service critical to operations of a contemporary intercollegiate Athletics program. Examples include Academic Services, Compliance, Business Operations, Equipment Operations, Fundraising, Marketing/Promotions, Strength and Conditioning and Video Operations.
